First United Methodist Church
What We Do
When we became members of this body, we commit ourselves to offer individually and together our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness to organize ourselves around a spirtual practice of these activities.
Prayer
We commit to daily prayer allowing God to reshape us in moments of conversation and silence. In prayer we engage the scripture and know the Holy Spirit helps us to understand more. In prayer we sense God's presence and guidance for all of life.
Presence
We gather in worship, in small groups for faith-based conversation and in ministry teams for mutual support. As one would not scatter embers and expect them to remain hot, so we commit to re-gathering in these ways for the sake of fanning the flames of God's Spirit in each other.
Gifts
We support free-will giving from our members who have always supported the daily needs as welll as special needs to of the physical building, missions, and community and members.
Service
Each member has specialized talents that can be utilized for fullfillment of the various positions required of the church. Just as the pastor fulfill his/her daily and weekly tasks, so do the members in various capacities, task to exemplify the love of God.
Witness
We as members of God's holy family, attested by our baptism, are encouraged to be a witness to each other, to our community, and to the world of God's love, mercy and blessings.
